Women 'Crushing It' Wednesday: Candles honoring pets when they pass

Kathy Kuhl of Chanhassen is creating candles to help pet owners grieving the loss of their pets.

CHANHASSEN, Minn. — When Kathy Kuhl and her husband lost their dog Maggie, Kathy decided to start lighting a candle to honor her memory.

That simple act that provided her comfort has now become a business to help other pet owners heal.

Kathy launched NelliDesigns in 2008, creating candles to console pet owners when their pets pass away.

The business is housed out of her Chanhassen home where she pours the candles, packages them and ships them out.

The business is named after their lab Nelli, who they adopted after their beloved Maggie passed away. “Really the best gift that we have for Maggie is to love another dog,” Kathy said.

The NelliDesigns candles come in different scents, including “rolling in the grass” and “big stick." They also come with a dog tag with the pet’s name and a quote, if you’d like.

You can learn more and order candles on the NelliDesigns website.
