Kids inspired by Olympic Trials

There are plenty of activities for kids to enjoy and put their skills to the test in downtown Minneapolis this weekend.

MINNEAPOLIS — Thousands are coming out to downtown for the Olympic trials. Many of them are kids, inspired by athletes like Suni Lee and Simone Biles.

So we asked what they believe it takes to be Olympic athletes.

“It takes a lot of practice and effort.” said 9-year-old Vivian.

Vivian says gymnastics is so complicated, its difficult to describe.

“It’s a sport where you do things, I don’t know,” she giggled.

Lily, who is eight years old, describes it as a series of cart wheels, hand stands, and forward rolls.

“I think it takes courage,” she said.

There are plenty of activities for kids to enjoy and put their skills to the test in downtown Minneapolis this weekend. Not only is the Promenade du Nord in town, but the Flip Zone is the official fan fest of Gymnastics City USA. Kids can climb, jump, leap and get makeovers.
