KS95 radio personality Tim Dunbar died suddenly Sunday at the age of 52.

WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. - A man known for keeping music listeners company during the overnight hours died Sunday at his home in West St. Paul.

KS95's Facebook page says 52-year-old Tim Dunbar of KS95 had a history of deep-vein thrombosis and he died of a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that went to his lungs, according to Dunbar's family and medical examiners.

Dunbar, who grew up in South St. Paul and lived in West St. Paul at the time of his death, recently was diagnosed with throat cancer and had undergone radiation treatments. He was out on medical leave but was scheduled to return next week to his midnight-5 a.m. shift at the radio station.

"Tim was a radio guy," KS95 vice president and market manager Dan Seeman told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

"He loved the business; he loved talking about the business. He's a guy who's been in a lot of different markets, and he's got friends all over the country that have worked with him in places like Milwaukee and Denver."

The Pioneer Press reports that things were emotional on KS95's "Moon and Staci" show Monday, as the DJs shared memories of Dunbar, noting that he always had a smile on his face and stories to share.

"We don't know the cause, if it's related to his health struggles he recently had or not, but we do know he was excited about coming back to work here at KS95," Staci Matthews said. "We will miss him dearly."

Dunbar's co-worker and roomate Darrin Stone posted the following message on KS95's Facebook page.

TO ALL TIM'S FRIENDS:

As you may, or may not know, I am Tim's Friend and have been his roommate for the past 8 months.

It is with a painful heart, and the deepest sadness that I must tell you all... Tim passed away sometime yesterday. The cause is unknown at this point, but first indications are it was sudden.

Arrangements have yet to be made. As of now I will be the point person for information and details, and I will let you all know more as soon as I can.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Tim was my brother. My best friend. I will miss him deeply.
