ROBBINSDALE, Minn. — Police were called to break up a large disturbance at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale Thursday morning.
According to a news release from Robbinsdale police officers were called to the hospital around 11:27 a.m., as security placed the emergency room on lockdown after several people got into a physical fight.
When officers arrived on the scene, they reported a crowd of 50 to 75 people involved in the disturbance. Officers from six law enforcement agencies were called in to help break up the fights.
Police Chief Jim Franzen confirms that the disturbance began when a person from Faribault arrived with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. It wasn't long before a fight broke out between family members and friends who showed up at the North Memorial ER. One person was arrested following the melee.
Lockdown status was lifted after approximately 2 hours, and operations are back to normal at the hospital.
