Lee Valsvik says goodbye to KARE 11

After decades on-air and years spent hosting the KARE 11 Saturday morning show, Lee is taking a step away from television.

MINNEAPOLIS — After years spent on-air in the Twin Cities, a Minnesota local news legend is stepping away from TV.

Lee Valsvik has been a familiar voice on Twin Cities airwaves for decades, most notably on-air for iHeartMedia's KOOL 108. Valsvik has also appeared on KARE 11 Saturday each weekend for many years, where she reports live at big community events across the metro.

In 2023, Valsvik was recognized by the Minnesota Broadcasters Hall of Fame, joining its class that included KARE 11's Boyd Huppert, longtime WCCO and MPR radio host Tim Russell; Mary Campbell of Omni Broadcasting in Bemidji; and Jim Bartels of KNUJ radio in New Ulm.

Valsvik said she plans to stay on-air with KOOL 108, but also plans to spend plenty of time at her cabin up north.

Good luck, Lee!
