ST PAUL, Minn — One person was fatally struck by a Metro Transit Green Line train on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers from the Metro Transit Police Department were called to scene for a collision between a train and cyclist around 4:15 p.m., said Nikki Muehlhausen, a public information officer for the department. The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. On Friday, the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office identified the cyclist as 54-year-old Brian Keith of St. Paul.
The crash occurred at the Capitol/Rice Street Station, said Muelhlhausen.
An initial investigation points to the collision being a "tragic accident," added Muelhlhausen, who said the cyclist seemed to have crossed over the tracks before the train passed.
