BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Hang the stockings, trees and ornaments, it's time for the holidays at the Mall of America.
The so-called 'Megamall' is in the middle of a holiday transformation for the next couple of weeks. Here's a rundown of some of the decorations you'll see:
- Two 44-foot trees stand in the Rotunda
- Each tree in the Rotunda has 385 branches and 32,000 LED bulbs
- In each court space of the Mall, oversized ornaments weighing 200-300 pounds each take a full hour to hang
- Nearly 400 decorative trees and 3,500 poinsettias are used to make the shopping avenues sparkle
- Seven 11-foot nutcrackers stand in the Mall's new grand entrance
All the decorations will be up around Nov. 20. After the holidays, it takes crews about 2 weeks to take everything down.
