MORRISON COUNTY, Minn. — A man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries on Saturday night after he was injured during a traffic stop conducted by a Morrison County Deputy.
In a press release, the Morrison County Sheriff's Office said that around 10:30 on Saturday night, a deputy stopped a vehicle on Highway 25 just south of Pierz in Pierz Township. The driver was under suspicion of driving under the influence and speeding, police said.
Officials said the deputy informed the suspect he was under arrest for DUI after a series of field sobriety tests and a struggle ensued. The suspect was injured with a knife during the struggle, police said, and airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is investing this use-of-force incident at the request of the Morrison County Sheriff's Office.
