Man shot, killed Monday in south Minneapolis

The victim is a 24-year-old man.

MINNEAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed Monday in Minneapolis' Phillips West neighborhood.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers were called to the 2900 block of 5th Avenue South just before 4 p.m. after two separate shotspotter activations. When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old man lying in a yard with multiple gunshot wounds. Police say the the man died at the scene.

“It’s extremely difficult as police officers to see the results of this violence day in and day out, to see young people who have been killed on the street,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “These are tragedies that must stop.”

No arrests have been made but police say they did recover a gun at the scene.
