DASSEL, Minn. — A man in Meeker County suffered "significant" burns after a fire that began as yard-clean up.

Crews were called to a home on 742nd Avenue just north of Dassel for a 53-year-old man who was burned, the Meeker County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

The man was helping family with yard cleanup Thursday around noon when he started to try and burn a brush pile, officials said, using an accelerant. The fire started and came back to the victim, causing severe burns on his body. The sheriff's office said the incident was accidental.

The victim was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center, authorities said.
