MINNEAPOLIS — Metro Transit will offer extended free rides on New Year's Eve after all.
As part of its partnership with Miller Lite and MVTA, the organization will offer free rides to all customers on Sunday from 6 p.m. to the end of service on all Metro Transit routes.
The organization chose to extend hours beyond midnight due to expected demand, so the new light rail service rides will end as specified below:
For the Green Line:
- Eastbound will leave Target Field at 12:30 a.m.
- Westbound will leave Union Depot at 12:30 a.m.
For the Blue Line:
- Northbound will leave Mall of America at 12:09 a.m.
- Southbound will leave Target Field at 12:30 a.m.
The timing means that Vikings fans riding Northstar on Dec. 31 will require fare for the inbound trip only, the return trip will be included in the Miller Lite Free Rides promotion, according to Metro Transit.
