MINNEAPOLIS — On Saturday night, commuters were forced to find alternate transportation after a Green Line train derailed in Minneapolis.

According to Metro Transit Spokesman Drew Kerr, a Green Line train was headed west between Nicollet Mall and the Warehouse District/ Hennepin stations around 8:30 p.m. when it came off the tracks.

Metro Transit's preliminary investigation suggests the train hit a concrete object in the track area, causing the derailment.

Three people riding on the train reported minor injuries, but no one needed to go to the hospital.

Just before 1 a.m. Sunday, Metro Transit posted to social media that service had been restored and trains would operate on their normal schedule Sunday.
