Metro Transit trains returning to regular service

Metro Transit trains were held in place Monday night due to a technical issue.

MINNEAPOLIS — Passengers of the light rail had their travel paused Monday evening after all the trains stopped operating.

Metro Transit sent an alert at about 9:05 p.m. saying trains are resuming regular service, though passengers might experience residual delays.

A Metro Transit spokesperson told KARE 11 there was an error in the system used to control train movements, causing all light rail vehicles to hold in place. Officials added that it is unclear what caused the system error.

For about two hours, buses ran on the blue and green line routes in the trains' place.
