MINNEAPOLIS — Fire officials are investigating a possible explosion Friday evening at an automotive garage in north Minneapolis.
The Minneapolis Fire Department received reports of an explosion and fire at around 5:30 p.m. at THE CAR GUYS repair shop on Lyndale Avenue North. Officials were told people with possible burn injuries were seen running from the building, however, they were not at the scene when crews arrived.
According to a MFD press release, "heavy fire" was coming out of both the front and rear garage doors when crews arrived. Fire officials evacuated the nearby residential and businesses for safety precautions.
Investigators can't yet confirm if an explosion occurred, but said the building will be boarded up as they continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
