MINNEAPOLIS — Call it a state of confusion in the State of Hockey.

Unusual, unseasonably warm weather has prompted Minneapolis to close all of its outdoor ice rinks just one week after they opened.

"Operations staff worked tirelessly to open rinks during a challenging and unusual winter, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate this year," the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board wrote on its website, while adding that it's possible the rinks could still reopen again later if the weather changes.

Pond hockey and broomball leagues will be credited for canceled games.

Minneapolis was slated to have 45 rinks available to the public at 22 parks for skating, hockey and broomball.
