MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead in the Cleveland neighborhood Friday night.

According to officials, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting just before 11 p.m. Friday night. When police arrived at the 3500 block of North Penn Avenue they found a man in his 50s sitting in a vehicle with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical attention until emergency crews arrived, they said, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Sunday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the man as 55-year-old Carl Maurice Woodard of Minneapolis. His official cause of death was ruled as a Homicide by way of a gunshot wound to the torso.

As of Saturday, no arrests have been made, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
