MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating after a woman died in a parking lot in Northeast Minneapolis Sunday night.

A report of a person down on the ground brought officers to a parking lot in the 800 block of Hennepin Avenue East Sunday night around 8:15 p.m. When police arrived, they said they found a woman in her 50s with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency responders got to work trying to save the woman's life but were unsuccessful. Police said she died at the scene. More information, including her name, will be released by officials in the coming days.

Officers think the woman fell in the parking lot and was then struck by a vehicle. That vehicle left the scene before police arrived, and no further information about a possible make or model has been provided to the media.

Police are investigating; no information about a possible suspect is available and officials said there have not been any arrests made.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.CrimeStoppersMN.org
