MINNEAPOLIS — Oro By Nixta has been operating for just over a year, but it took little time for the restaurant to start racking up awards.
Magazine Bon Appetit is just the latest to notice the kitchen's unique talent, naming it as one of the country's top new restaurants of 2024. Back in April, Oro by Nixta was also nominated for a James Beard award in the Best New Restaurant category.
Nixta, a tortilleria, landed first in northeast Minneapolis with such success that Oro, a masa kitchen, was born. The menu centers around Mexican heirloom corn, with inventive dishes ranging from a masa-based fried dumpling made of sweet potato and hibiscus to an indigo tortilla with celery root.
