MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis Park Police say a 12-year old boy is hospitalized after a water emergency on Friday afternoon.
Police were called around 5 p.m. to North Commons Pool where the boy was found in the water. He was pulled from the pool and taken to the hospital, where his injuries are unknown.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says a preliminary investigation shows the boy accessed the waterpark while it is still closed for the season, after climbing a locked fence gate.
Minneapolis Park Police officers responded to the scene, with one jumping in to save the boy, while the other performed initial CPR before he was rushed to the hospital.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
