MANKATO, Minn. — Sheriff's officials have identified the man killed by a landslide at a state park in southern Minnesota Saturday.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Jack Robert Loso of Robbinsdale was visiting Minneopa State Park near Mankato with family when the fatal incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m.

Deputies were dispatched after a 911 call reporting that someone had been trapped under the collapsed and sliding earth. Emergency responders were able to locate Loso but said he was deceased on the scene.

The incident remains under investigation. In a news release Monday identifying the victim, the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office offered condolences to Loso's family.

Minneopa State Park is located about five miles west of Mankato. It is one of Minnesota's oldest state parks, and contains waterfalls, a wind-drive grist mill and a bison herd, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
