MINNESOTA, USA — Now's the time to put your luck to the test.
The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday, Oct. 11's drawing is a whopping $1.73 billion, the second-highest grand prize in history and the first time ever that back-to-back jackpot cycles generated billion-dollar jackpots. The cash prize amounts to $756.6 million.
Wednesday's drawing will take place at 9:59 p.m. CT. If no one wins, the jackpot jumps again for Saturday's drawing.
What are the odds of winning the Powerball lottery?
The smaller the prize, the greater the odds you could win.
The odds of matching just the Powerball number and winning $4 are 1 in 38.32.
The odds of matching one number and the Powerball are 1 in 91.98. That'll also win you $4.
But if you're talking about serious money, you'll need serious luck.
The odds of selecting five numbers for a $1 million prize are 1 in 11,688,053.52. And to win the jackpot grand prize, all five numbers and the Powerball, are 1 in 292,201,338.00.
How many times has a Minnesotan won the Powerball jackpot?
In the last 20 years, a Minnesota lottery player has won the Powerball jackpot seven times.
Most recently in Aug. 2013, Paul White won a share of the $448.4 million jackpot. Two tickets in New Jersey also turned up as winners, so White won $149.4 million and selected the $86 million cash option.

Other big lottery prizes in Minnesota
According to the Minnesota Lottery, in Sept. 2023 the Store of St. Anna in Avon, Minnesota sold a winning $2 million Powerball ticket.
In March and February, two Gopher 5 tickets worth $1,821,926 and $1,037,792, respectively, were sold in St. Joseph and Twin Valley.
And in 2022, three lucky lottery players won $1 million Powerball prizes after buying tickets in Hinckley, Duluth and Chanhassen.

Lottery winners have one year from the date a game closes to claim their prize.
