BELLE PLAINE, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) says one person is dead following a two-vehicle crash just north of Belle Plaine.
Earlier Friday, MSP tweeted an update regarding statewide crash and spinout numbers as of 11:30. Around 5 p.m., a follow-up tweet was posted indicating one of the reported crashes had turned fatal.
The incident report says the crash happened on Highway 25 east of 208th Lane just before 11:30 a.m., when a Chevy HHR, driven by a 71-year-old Belle Plaine woman, and a Chevy Silverado, driven by a 30-year-old man from Jordan, collided in the northbound lane. The report also indicates a child under the age of 1 was a passenger in the Silverado.
The manner and extent of the injuries of those involved remain unclear, as well as the identity of the victim.
The State Patrol said road conditions were wet at the time, but didn't give an official cause for the crash.
