Minnesota's Largest Candy Store won't be moving after all

The store's owner says the property slated for the planned relocation isn't "conducive to build."

JORDAN, Minn. — A sweet stop for many travelers in the southwest metro won't be going anywhere after all.

Minnesota's Largest Candy Store was put in a sticky situation earlier this year because of plans to build a new interchange on Highway 169 near their longtime home in Jordan. In April, owner Robert Wagner told KARE 11 he planned to relocate to a new property less than a mile away as part of a land swap with Scott County.

However, Wagner now says that move won't happen after soil samples at the new location showed the lot "would not be conducive" for a new building.

Wagner says the store has "a good thing where they are" and will be staying in their current location. He did not address how the store would deal with the planned Highway 169 interchange, which is set to close off access to the candy store's main entrance off Highway 169.

A previous Scott County study found building a new entrance road to the store would be too expensive and would have gone through several acres of wetland.
