MARSHALL, Minn. — A missing toddler was tragically found dead in a river in Marshall, Minnesota Wednesday evening.

The Marshall Police Department was initially called to the 200 block of South 4th Street for a missing child at 4:45 p.m., according to a release from the department.

After an initial investigation, officers from the department received assistance from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and other local first responders and conducted a search.

At roughly 5:20 p.m., an unresponsive 4-year-old boy was found in the Redwood River close to the intersection of Kossuth Street and 7th Street.
