MISSING: 4-year-old nonverbal boy last seen Sunday morning in Hopkins

Police said Waeys Ali Mohamed is easily startled by noise and drawn to areas with water.

HOPKINS, Minn. — Officials are continuing their search Sunday evening after a missing child was reported in Hopkins, prompting multiple emergency alerts to be sent. 

Hopkins Police said Waeys Ali Mohamed, the missing 4-year-old stands three-and-a-half feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. He has short, curly black hair and may be naked and not wearing shoes.

The boy was last seen around 7:30 a.m. near Chorus Apartments at 1295 2nd Street Northeast in Hopkins. 

Police said the boy is easily startled by noise and drawn to areas of water. 

"It'll be harder when the sun goes down, that's why we're trying to exhaust every effort that we can right now," said Hopkins Police Captain Craig Kreiling.

Anyone who sees the boy or has information is asked to call 911 immediately. 

"We will be here as long as it takes to bring Waeys home," said Kreiling.
