STILLWATER, Minn. - Over itstwo-decade run hauling dinner theater patrons up and down the St. Croix River the Minnesota Zephyr has left the station in Stillwater thousands of times.
On Wednesday the iconic train began its final journey from Stillwater, but not on rails. A local company is loading the multi-ton train on flatbed trailers and moving it three miles down the road to Bayport where the Zephyr will be stored while its owner searches for a buyer to give it new life.

The fate of the dinner train was sealed whenowner David Paradeau sold the nearly six mile corridor to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for more than $4 million. The land will be used for a bike trail that will connect to the Gateway State Trail west of Stillwater.
The Zephyr ran for 23 years, carrying and serving more than 1 million customers.
