Brooklyn Park daycare a 'total loss' after morning fire

A smoke alarm alerted crews to the fire at a KinderCare just before 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Fire crews in Brooklyn Park early Thursday are battling a fire at a KinderCare daycare center on Xerxes Ave.

The call came in around 2 a.m after a smoke alarm sounded. Early indications are that the fire started in a single room in the center and spread from there.

Investigators are on scene trying to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries have been reported.

The KinderCare was open for business, with as many as 50 children at the facility, on the previous day. It is unknown what the business' plan will be going forward in dealing with clients and their children.

Firefighters from West Metro, Brooklyn Center Fire, Fridley, Coon Rapids and Plymouth were all on scene to assist this morning.
