BLOOMINGTON - The Minneapolis NAACP accused the Mall of America security of violently restraining a 14-year-old black girl.
The group held a news conference Thursday at Minneapolis City Hall.
The group posted a video on its Facebook page. It shows several officers holding the girl down. The alleged incident took place Saturday.
The NAACP is demanding the officers in the video be fired... and a public apology be issued.
According to the NAACP, the teen had been told to leave the mall because she was not accompanied by an adult.
The 14-year-old was at the mall's transporation platform trying to get change for a 20-dollar bill.
That's when the NAACP says she was tackled by officers and injured.
The Mall of America says it cannot comment on the specifics of the incident.
But, adds that underage individuals who are asked to leave are given multiple opportunities to comply.
If they refuse to leave they are subject to arrest.
