A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after being pulled from the Crow River Sunday afternoon, according to a Wright County Sheriff's Office news release.

"Evidence and statements from witnesses on scene stated a mother and two juveniles entered the Crow River near the bridge on Mill Pond Trail in Hanover," according to the release.

The mother and 16-year-old girl were on paddle boards while a 15-year-old boy was in a kayak.

At some point, they ran into and got stuck in the overhanging trees on the banks of the river.

The mother and the 15-year-old boy were able to get free from the trees but the 16-year-old girl was pulled under by the strong current.

The girl was pulled from the water by her father and another bystander.

"First responders were able to obtain a pulse from the unresponsive juvenile female" and she was flown by air ambulance to the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital.

Authorities said the girl was wearing a lifejacket.

They also said that when their news release was issued the girls' "status remains critical."
