MINNEAPOLIS — Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis is showing off the potential future of snow-clearing technology on Saturday, as the school hosts the annual Autonomous Snowplow Competition.
The three-day event will feature teams from colleges and universities across the country, showing off hand-built, designed and programmed machines that use autonomous control to clear piles of snow.
Dunwoody has participated in the event since it started in 2011, and placed first and third in 2019. This is the first time Dunwoody as served as host of the competition.
Visitors can get an up-close look at the creations as well as the latest snowplow technology. A special "State of Snow and Ice" sculpture will be featured in front of Dunwoody's west entrance, where attendees can take photos and carve their names into the ice.
