Learn how to save a life with CPR

The American Heart Association says only 50 percent of people can locate their nearest automatic external defibrillator or AED at work.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — National CPR and AED Awareness Week is June 1 to June 7.  Dustin Hadley is a paramedic and cardiac arrest survivor who says he was saved by CPR.

Dustin will walk us through the steps necessary to save a life with proper CPR techniques.

The American Heart Association says 70 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in homes, and that you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love.

The organization says a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival falls 10 percent for every minute between the arrest and the start of CPR. When bystander CPR is administered it doubles and even triples the chance that victims survive.

Unfortunately, the organization also makes note that only 50 percent of people can locate their nearest automatic external defibrillator or AED at work.
