MDI's CEO, Eric Black and MDI employee Brent Otto joined KARE 11 News at Noon to discuss the fundraiser and empowering people with disabilities.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — In just over a week, we've all got a chance to open more opportunities for people of all abilities.

Minneapolis-based Minnesota Diversified Industries (MDI) is throwing a big fundraiser for career training meant to empower people with disabilities.

The MDI Ability Bash is on Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Metropolitan Ballroom & Clubroom in Golden Valley. The funds raised at this event support MDI's Unified Work program, which provides career skills training to people with disabilities. MDI has four manufacturing facilities across Minnesota. The company creates plastic containers and offers product assembly and packaging services for businesses of all sizes across the country. Approximately half of its employees are people with disabilities.
