Aspiring journalists from 'InspireMSP' visit KARE 11, put on their own newscast

A group of aspiring young journalists from an organization called "Inspiring MSP" visited KARE 11 to learn about the field and produce their own news show!

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — InspireMSP, an organization dedicated to expanding opportunities for middle and high school students, stopped by KARE 11 Studios Tuesday, to give 8th graders a behind-the-scenes look at the world of journalism.

The group was hosted by Sunrise anchors Jason Hackett, Alicia Lewis, Noon Anchor and Community Relations Manager Alexis Rogers and reporter Audrey Russo, who - along with the rest of the KARE 11 crew - curated an interactive and educational experience.

Students engaged in various activities designed to provide insights into the media industry. They learned about the different roles within a news station, the importance of teamwork, and the varied skills required to succeed in journalism. The visit was designed to inspire these young minds, show them the diverse career paths available in the media and encourage them to pursue their passions.

InspireMSP focuses on connecting students with professionals and experiences in the creative industry to broaden their horizons and prepare them for future success. Visits like the one to KARE11 deliver extraordinary experiences for historically excluded students by tapping into creative professionals, organizations, and a collection of supportive resources to champion career pathways.

By partnering with organizations like KARE 11, InspireMSP continues to make an impact on the lives of young students in the Minneapolis area. For more information, visit the InspireMSP website.
