WAYZATA, Minn. — The Minnesota State Fair might be over, but there's another big celebration that honors tradition and promises family fun.
James J. Hill Days takes over downtown Wayzata this weekend, promising everything from live music to logrolling.
This is the festival's 50th anniversary and officials expect big crowds to be lined up along the shores of Lake Minnetonka.
Named after the famous railroad executive, the three-day festival includes a carnival, an open-air street market, food trucks, logrolling, dachshund races, concerts, fireworks and a parade.
James J. Hill Days begin Friday, September 6, at 5 p.m. with the Rails & Ales Craft Beer Festival the the Wayzata Depot.
This year's live music will include performances by High & Mighty, Powertap, Kat Perkins, Lamont Cranston, Taylor Robert and Sam Graber.
Fireworks will illuminate the night starting at 8:45 pm on Saturday. The big parade wraps up the festival at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
