Foodie Finds: El Sazon

The Mexican eatery, which started in an Eagan gas station, expanded to a location in south Minneapolis and is hosting its seventh "A Night at the Gas Station."

MINNEAPOLIS — Good food can come from anywhere.

Case in point is El Sazon, a beloved Mexican eatery that humbly started in the confines of an Eagan gas station-convenience store as Tacos and more. Owners Cristian de Leon and his wife Karen then expanded with El Sazon-Cocina & Tragos in southwest Minneapolis.

On Sunday, August 18, El Sazon will host the seventh incarnation of its popular "A Night at the Gas Station" event, a five-course dinner with mocktail pairings crafted and curated by chef Cristian and bar director Zolio Ruacho served in an unconventional setting... a gas station! Tickets are $85 plus tax and gratuity.

“People love the unexpected surprises our twist on tradition Mexican and Latin American food has,” notes chef Cristian. “A Night at the Gas Station is testament to our humble beginnings and is a fine dining experience with mocktails in a unique, gas station setting.”

Reservations for "A Night at the Gas Station" are available by calling 763-276-0654.

On Thursday Chef Cristian visited KARE News at Noon to talk about the upcoming event and whip up some tasty food.
