How to change your workplace culture this summer

Kaylee Thompson, President of the Bailey Group, joined KARE 11 News at Noon to offer some help in savoring the summer.

This time of year, it's nice to get outside to stretch your legs and get some exercise but that's harder to do when you're stuck in the office.

One group in our area is hoping to change that by creating healthier workplace cultures.

Kaylee Thompson, President of the Bailey Group, an executive coaching firm, joined KARE 11 News at Noon to offer tips and ideas to help savor the summer.

Flexibility:

  • Early release or more compressed workweeks
  • Half-day summer Fridays
  • Encourage work from anywhere during the summer which can accommodate personal summer activities and family time

Wellness:

  • Outdoor meetings – in person or virtually
  • Walking meetings or taking their meetings outside
  • Meetings longer than an hour: break for at least 10 minutes and encourage each other to step outside
  • Mindfulness ritual at the start of meetings
  • Summer wellness challenges

Extra special ritual tips:

  • Do something special at work with colleagues like sharing a special dish in the breakroom
  • Parents: Try a special workplace tradition with a twist on Bring Your Kids to Work Day
  • Celebrating summer volunteer work by inviting coworkers to join a drive
