MINNEAPOLIS — As a child, how did you know what career path you wanted to choose?
100 Black Men, a Twin Cities branch of a nonprofit that aims to mentor young Black men, is hosting an event for kids to figure out that question. Minneapolis College is hosting the event - ManCode - to expose young men of color to career paths in business and technology.
Phyllis Wheatley Community Center and Microsoft are partnering with 100 Black Men for the event. Local leaders will share about AI, careers in technology and gaming, pathways to college, financial literacy, robotics, mental health and more.
The two-day event will take place Oct. 17 and 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Youth ages 12-17 are welcome to come. If you're interested in registering, click here.
The 100 Black Men group's motto is, "What they see is what they'll be," indicating that it is important for young boys of color to see men who look like them succeeding in various aspects of their lives.
