How to make Pho like Pham's Rice Bowl

Trung Pham, the owner of Pham's Rice Bowl in Minneapolis, said the recipe has been passed down his family.

MINNEAPOLIS — On these cold days, you might be craving something warm. 

KARE 11 News at Noon spoke with Trung Pham, the owner of Pham's Rice Bowl at Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis. Pham has just the thing to leave you warm and satisfied - pho. 

Pham said this recipe has been passed down from his parents, just as most of the recipes at his restaurant have been. 

Here is how you can make it.

Pho

Ingredients 

  • Broth:
    • Beef bones with marrow
    • Pho seasoning: Anise seed, cinnamon, fennel seed, clove, coriander seed.
    • Char white jumbo onions
    • Char ginger
    • Fish sauce
    • Sugar
  • Pho noodles (rice noodles)
  • Beef tenderloin (thinly slice)
  • Beef balls
  • Beef tripes
  • Garnishes
    • Bean sprouts
    • White onions
    • Green onions
    • Thai basil
    • Cilantro
    • Lime
    • Siracha chili
    • Hoisin sauce

Preparation

-Put the broth in a big stock pot and boil for 2-3 hours.

-Blanch the noodles and beef tenderloin quickly in boiling water, drain excess water and put into a bowl.

-Add the finished broth to the bowl.

-Add garnishes.
