STAR house offers emergency overnight care for children in Ramsey County

The nonprofit aims to open its doors in May or June.

RAMSEY COUNTY, Minn. — A new nonprofit is opening its doors to young children in Ramsey County who need a temporary home away from home. 

STAR House is opening in May or June and will offer 5 beds each weekend. The nonprofit aims to offer temporary shelter if needed, so that children can have support and shelter for up to 72 hours at a time. 

The shelter is open to children ages 0-6. In a media release, the organization's goals were described as reducing child abuse and neglect and promoting strong families.
