'Stories Behind the Menu' chef cooks up Hoppin' John fried rice

MINNEAPOLIS — Behind each recipe is a rich story and culture. 

For chefs like Ed Porter, "Stories Behind the Menu" is an opportunity for him to share his culture and what inspires his cooking. 

Porter and founder Chaz Sandifer came in the KARE 11 studios on Monday to chat about the upcoming event. 

Chef Porter will host a "Stories Behind the Menu" experience on Feb. 8 at Mosaic in Minneapolis. The dinner will be a 4- to 5-course meal with beverages from 6:30-9 p.m.
