AHS Walk for Animals event scheduled for May 4 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds

An 11-year-old girl uses her love for animals to raise money for the Animal Humane Society on May 4.

ST PAUL, Minn. — One local girl is taking her love for animals and using it to raise money for an annual event hosted by the Animal Humane Society.

Charlotte Loken is 11 years old. Her aunt Allie is a supervisor at the Coon Rapids Animal Humane Society, which is how Charlotte learned about AHS Summer Camps.

This young animal lover didn't want to pass up a chance to spend more time around animals.

To raise money for summer camp, Charlotte and her grandmother brought out the sugar and flour and got to work baking! After only a few months, Charlotte had more than enough money to pay for her registration fees for camp.

But once she signed up, Charlotte knew she wanted to keep helping animals. So the pre-teen turned her attention toward the annual Walk for Animals

This year the event is at the International Bazaar of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on May 4.
