ELGIN, Minn. — The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a child was shot in Elgin.
The sheriff's office initially received a call for a 6-year-old who had been shot on June 25 around 6:38 p.m., according to a release.
Elgin EMS and deputies from the sheriff's office were sent to the scene, where they learned the incident happened outside the home.
The child was transported to a nearby hospital, according to the release.
Preliminary information from the sheriff's office indicated the incident was accidental, but an investigation into the matter continues.
