MINNEAPOLIS, Minn — Minneapolis Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the Ventura Village neighborhood.
According to an MPD press release, officers were called to the 2400 block of 17 Ave. S. with the report of three gunshots and a man lying in the middle of the street. Police located a victim in his late 20s with life-threatening gunshot wounds at the scene.
The man was taken to Hennepin Healthcare where he later died from his injuries despite life-saving measures.
Minneapolis Police say they are working to determine what happened leading up to the shooting.
“This is a tragic event that occurred in a neighborhood near a park and a church,” said Chief O’Hara. “Our investigators will work diligently to determine what occurred this morning. We need anyone with information about what happened to contact us immediately.”
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the man along with the cause of death.
