RICHFIELD, Minn. — Police say a 22-year-old man was shot near Donaldson Park in Richfield while trying to sell shoes. It happened on Jan. 1, shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Police say the man was taken to a hospital after suffering a gunshot wound in the stomach. The man "remains hospitalized in stable condition," according to a Facebook post from Richfield Police Department.
Police say the shooting incident stemmed from “an agreement to buy shoes from the male victim made through social media,” according to the Facebook post. The suspect then shot the man and reportedly “stole some of his personal items.”
Police say they believe there were multiple suspects involved in the incident who fled in a passenger vehicle. The suspects and vehicle have not been found as of yet. The case is an ongoing investigation, according to police.
In November, a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in Plymouth in a similar incident. Police said the shooting stemmed from a shoe transaction between the victim, Yaseen Johnson and the shooter, 19-year-old Augustus Sirleaf, who was later charged with second-degree murder.
