ST PAUL, Minn. — City officials say a coat distribution event in St. Paul has been postponed.

The event was originally set for Friday, Dec. 9 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Eastern Heights Elementary in St. Paul.

St. Paul Local 21 firefighters partnered with national nonprofit Operation Warm, hoping to distribute more than 1,000 winter coats to kids living in St. Paul.

A fire department spokesperson told KARE 11 the event was canceled due to a "shipping mix-up," that resulted in the coats "being shipped to a different state." The partnership was set to distribute coats to children at Riverview Elementary, Como Park Elementary, and Eastern Heights Elementary.

The St. Paul Fire Department says that leadership at Local 21 will be working to reschedule the distribution event.
