MINNEAPOLIS — Communities that KARE is taking a look at a group making great strides in Minnesota for women in business and people in need.
AWIN, Aspiring Women's Independent Network empowers women through networking and creating meaningful relationships through volunteering and fundraising. So these ladies at lunch aren't just socializing -- they're building a foundation for a strong female business community.
More than 100 women from industries like marketing, real estate, finance and others get together each month in Minneapolis for lunch and fellowship. The group has donated to organizations like 'Feed My Starving Children', and have donated coats to the homeless. The organization picks a cause each quarter - sometimes it's a charity, and sometimes it's a family that needs a little extra help.
Members feel that AWIN is successful because being part of this growing community of professionals, for these women, means giving back.
