Therapy farm fundraises with an animal fashion show

After the nonprofit planned a fashionable fundraiser, the city raised the money needed in record time.

ELLSWORTH, Wis. — Have you ever seen a sheep strut the runway?

Nonprofit Elsie's Barnyard aimed to do just that, and encouraged kids to dress up their animals in costume this weekend.

The nonprofit is named after 4-year-old Elsie Fleming who has Down Syndrome. Her mom Mandy started the farm as a resource for families with adverse medical conditions after seeing Elsie's motor skills and speech improve after interacting with animals.

The fashion show aimed to raise $10,000 for the nonprofit's work. But before the first animal went down the runway, the city of Ellsworth, Wis. raised the money to hit the goal.

KARE 11 Sunrise Reporter Audrey Russo was a judge for the fashionable animals.
