GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.--Each month, KARE 11 honors an outstanding local volunteer for their service to our community.
This morning, we shined the spotlight on a woman who has spent 60 years volunteering with the American Red Cross--Vonnie Thomas.
Vonniecalls it being bit by the Red Cross bug. It happened back in 1950. She really wanted to go to the State Fair, but she didn't have any money. She saw an ad in the paper, which described how you could get in for free if you volunteered. And the rest, as they say, is history.
