PRIOR LAKE, Minn. - The new world of social media brings with it plenty of challenges, but it also makes solving mysteries a lot easier.
Take the case of a lost class ring that was discovered by a Minnesota couple some five years ago. Jeff and Kathy Keogh were walking near a rural highway south of New Prague when they found the ring, which indicated it belonged to a member of Plainview High School's Class of 1976. While their intentions were good, the Keogh's put the ring away, resumed their busy lives and basically forgot about it.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, when Kathy and Jeff were doing some reorganizing around their home in Prior Lake and discovered the ring. The couple called the High School in Plainview, Minnesota to see if anyone had reported a missing ring, but got no answer. That's when they contacted KARE 11 with the story and pictures of the ring.
As it turns out, the lost class ring was issued by a school in Plainview.... NEBRASKA. A woman named Liz Doerr saw a post on KARE's Facebook page about the ring and recognized the mascot as a Pirate, and the design as being from her high school. The high school in Plainview, Minnesota's mascot at the time was a gopher. She figured that the initials KLM might belong to a former classmate of her and her husband, and she was right. The woman contacted Jeff and put him in contact with a gentleman named Kim McCrady, who as it turns out... is the rightful owner of the missing ring.
Jeff has made arrangements to return the ring to Mr. McCrady.
