Police say they have identified a vehicle and person of interest in a serious hit-and-run that happened in Maplewood last month.
The victim, a 20-year-old from Maplewood, was found in the middle of the road in the area of English St. and Belmont Lane E. just before 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 23.
Police said on Friday that the man is still hospitalized and in serious condition more than a month later. Officers have not yet been able to speak with him.
According to a news release, "the striking vehicle had fled the scene" and "it is possible the driver was not aware they struck anyone."
On Dec. 18, police say they were able to identify the white 2000 GMC Savana van believed to have been driven in the crash. A person of interest has been identified, police said, but their name is not being released.
Anyone with information on the incident or who may have been involved is asked to call Maplewood Police at 651-249-2600 or the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center during non-business hours at 651-767-0640.
